Program

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Don Giovanni, Overture
Édouard Lalo - Symphonie espagnole, Op.21
Johannes Brahms - Tragic Overture, Op.81
Antonin Dvořák - Symphony No.9, Op.9
Conductors are expected to purchase and study their scores before the start of the Masterclass. It is important that you listen to the pieces and prepare them as much as possible to gain the maximum benefits from the Masterclass.

Each Active participant will be entitled to:

a minimum 90 minutes of podium time conducting the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra
60 minutes of podium time in four-hand piano sessions with the soloist
• each Active participant will conduct a Dress rehearsal and the Final concert
• attending a video analysing session, all meetings, classes and rehearsals.

Each Semi-active participant will be entitled to:

90 minutes of podium time in four-hand piano sessions with the soloist
• attending the video analysing session, all meetings, classes, rehearsals & the final concert, without an opportunity to conduct the orchestra

There is no age limit for participation. The Certificate of participation will be provided for all Participants who have completed the Masterclass for conductors.

Concert

The concert program will be divided among participants.
The Final concert will be held on the August 29, 2025 at 19.00

ORCHESTRA

Full-size professional symphony orchestra.
The Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc is one of the leading and oldest symphony orchestras in the Czech Republic. Based in the historic capital of Moravia, it openned its 79th concert season in 2024.

MAESTRO TOMÁŠ NETOPIL

      • Chief Conductor and Music Director – FOK-Prague Symphony Orchestra (from 2025/26)
• Founder and Artistic Director – International Summer Academy in Kroměříž (Czech Republic)
• Principal Guest Conductor with the Czech Philharmonic from 2018 to 2024, performing regularly on tour and at concerts in the Rudolfinum Hall in Prague. He will continue to collaborate with the Czech Phil on a regular basis, including conducting the orchestra’s New Year’s concerts.
• General Music Director / Aalto Musik Theater and Philharmonie Essen (2013–2023)
• In 2023/24 Tomáš Netopil conducted opera productions including Janáček’s Jenůfa at the Hamburg Staatsoper and Dvořák’s Rusalka at the Prague National Theatre as well as symphonic engagements with Frankfurt Opera Orchestra, Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, Naples Philharmonic and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra.
• Opera productions in the 2024/25 season include Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, Die Zauberflöte with the New National Theatre Foundation, Tokyo and Don Giovanni with Oper Köln. • He explores a wide range of symphonic repertoire in engagements with Oslo Philharmonic, Antwerp, Kuopio and Sydney Symphony Orchestras, Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.
• Music Director of the Prague National Theatre and Estates Theatre (2008–2012)

Transportation

Getting from Prague to Olomouc by a train takes about 2½ hour, hourly IC/EC trains;
Travel costs must be covered by each participant.

Recording

All sessions with the orchestra will be video recorded and each conductor will receive his/her videos via E-mail / transfer link

Video recording of orchestra rehearsals and the concert is included in the price.
Multi-angle video from the concert will be available with an additional cost. More infornation via email.

Masterclass fees

Active participant's fee is € 1990.

Semi-active participant's fee is € 600 - 650
Daily Visitors' (passive participation) fee is € 40
There is no registration/application fee.
Payment schedule
- 25 % of the participant’s fee has to be paid as a deposit via bank transfer two weeks at the latest after the organizers` confirmation of your participation;
- The payment deadline for the full participation fee is 30 days prior to beginning of the Masterclass;
The masterclass fee is 100 % refundable only in case of cancellation or postponing of the masterclass by the organizer.

Language

The course will be taught primarily in English and secondary in German or Czech.
