Charles Olivieri Munroe is the artistic director & principal conductor of the Cracow Philharmonic Orchestra (since 2015). He is concurrently chief conductor with Philharmonie Südwestfalen in Germany since 2011 and holds the position of honorary chief conductor with the North Czech Philharmonic Orchestra with whom he has been associated since 1997, Regular Guest conductor with Bangkok Symphonic Orchestra and Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, Docent conducting faculty in the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Since 2005, he has been Resident Conductor with the Texas Round Top Festival Institute. |
The masterclass will take place from 13th to 18th August 2017 in Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad). Czech Republic.
The course will include both orchestral rehearsals and individual conducting lessons and will culminate in the dress rehearsal and a final concert.
Each active participant will be entitled to:
- 100 minutes of podium time with Symphony Orchestra of the Karlovy Vary Symphony OrchestraEach semi-active participant will be entitled to:
- 90 minutes of podium time in sessions with piano accompaniment;Participants are required to select and prepare 2-3 music works from this repertoire.
Conductors are expected to purchase and study their scores before the start of the masterclass for conductors. It is important that you listen to the pieces and prepare them as much as possible to gain the maximum benefits from the masterclass.
All participants will receive the final schedule after the application deadline.
The application deadline is 28th June 2017.
The Final concert will be held 18th August in the Antonin Dvorak Concert Hall in Karlovy Vary, Windsor Carlsbad - Lázně III, Mlýnské nábřeží 5.
All qualifying active participants will conduc the final public concert and the concert program will be divided among the participants.

Karlovy Vary is historically famous for its hot springs (13 main springs, about 300 smaller springs, and the warm-water Teplá River), it is the most visited spa town in the Czech Republic.
The accommodation for 6 nights in the hotel Kriváň*** is included in the masterclass fee for Active and Semi - active participants.
Nevertheless, Participants can choose whichever hotel they like, they are responsible for the arrangement of their accommodation in this case.Karlovy Vary situated in western Bohemia, approximately 130 km (81 mi) west of Prague.
Getting from Prague to Karlovy Vary by bus:
